Mumi: Aunty Julie very cute. She was very enthusiatic to show me around the house. Took the photos for you to see.
Hawkers Cuisine is a Malaysian Restaurant with lotsa sarawak dishes. This place is quite new in Perth and they serve kolo mee, 3 layer teh si peng..etc..I didnt try the kolo mee cos its AUD 9 which is RM27!! The food fantastic but service a bit poor. They came to us 5times wanting to take our dishes away eventhough we havent finished! A bit chau kuan. i guess its because the seng li too good and people were waiting outside for seats. These few days suddenly hear a lot of marmite dishes..Aunty susan, i love marmite and borvil too! My housemates dont understand why i like it. Now winter i make borvil soup to Drink...yumm I will try to make a borvil dish sometime soon =)
Yesterday my housemate, Ruey cooked all her famous chinese dishes..yummmm
Look how golden brown they are.....i tried frying them before and mine looks dull and too brown. But i learn the trick already... that is to use low fire initially and slowly increasing it over time.
Today i made sarawak laksa for my housemates and a few others. I started making the stock (prawn shell + chicken bones + carrot) since yesterday night. Actually Alvin's cousin Timoty helped me. Hochai......otherwise the soup turn out disaster.
Helo everybody! Cant believe the last time i blogged was 9 months ago. However, i have been faithfully popping by to read what has been going on =) Very happening back in spore and msia.
I got a car now! can drive anywhere i like =) I bought it in March for AUD 4700. It is a Ford Festiva 99 and i call it a purple camel . Colour...not very fantastic. The thought of me owning a purple car still is unimaginable. Anyone coming to Adelaide? hehe purple camel wil come fetch you from airport.
I felt so at home when i arrived in Perth. It was so good to see all the familiar faces. Thanks so much , Jimmy and Shona for your hospitality. It meant a lot to me especially during the first night i arrived and was still sick. Fortunately I got better the next day as it was Joanne and Marcus's wedding =) Partly was because I had disperin before every meal and the antibiotics were starting to do their job. Wedding pictures will only be out later cos i wasnt familiar with my new phone camera + lazy soooo i leeech of many cameras n have to collect them. *uh regrett*
Anyways, I thought Perth looked so much nicer than before but my friend reckon that i have been in Adelaide for too long...ehhe.....The new underground train which they started building since my uni days is almost finished. pretty cool.
WHoOPs this was written last week but i couldnt load the picture n forgot about it...AND it was about the last 3 weeks when i wrote it....haha which means ure getting super kuno updates that is 5 weeks ago? time fliess.
I was sick for 2 weeks with tonsillitis n was miserable. That explains my silence. Its never a pleasant experience to be sick and away from loved ones. It started with chills and i felt tired n lethargic. Generally unwell. My body was aching like an old lady too. It didnt occur to me tat i was sick though my tonsils hurt a lil when u poke it. I thought age was catching up with me cos i recently turned 24. After a few days it dawn upon me that i had tonsillitis n confirmed it through a self diagnosis on google. By then I was better for a few days until i made 2 wrong choices. I snacked on chocolates n had tomyam for dinner! Wrong choices in life always cost something eh. It did for me. My tonsils flared up the next day. I had headaches and no appetite as i could hardly swallow and sleep cos of the excruciating pain at my throat and ear. I was so sick that i wasnt looking forward for my holiday in Perth at all particularly the trip in the plane.
FYI, tonsillitis is an inflammation of the tonsils which could be caused by a
viral or bacteria infection. You wouldnt be able to tell by the symtoms whether
its a viral or bacterial infection. However, viral infection only last for a
short period of time ( 4- 5 days) and cannot be treated by any medication so
don bother going to the doctor. Save your money. Let your body do the work. You
could take pain killers to reduce any pain and discomfort. BTW checkout your
throat if u do get tonsillitis. U can see white patches on your tonsils...like
this
Mine was obviously a bacterial infection. For the first time i was so desperate
to see a doctor just so that i could prescribe antibiotics though it cost me a
bomb. AUD 42 just to get prescription from the doctor which took 5 minutes cos
i told her i had tonsillitis and another AUD 20 for penicillin tablets. There
goes my efforts trying to save money. BUT it was sure worth it as i enjoyed my
trip in Perth.
THINGS
TO KEEP YOUR EARS HAPPY DURING FLIGHT
I don usually have a problem with my ears but this time i was afraid the pain in my ear would be 3 times worst than it is with the pressure so i purchased the items above at the airport terminal. Before boarding the airplane, I took one tablet of disprin and put on the disposable ear plugs before take off and during landing. I also had lonzenges to suck. To my amazement, i felt so much better. Better than i was on land! haha It was the wonders of disprin. I was happy and could eat the plane food. Im not sure whether the disposable ear plugs helped cos i din dare to take them off. Apparently, it is claimed to have the Exclusive CeramX filter that regulates air pressure and reduces harsh noise.I sure hope it did make a difference cos i spent AUD 15 on it. The flight from Adelaide to Perth took about 3 hours and guess wat?! all the pain eventually came back when i arrived. Looks like one tablet of disprin only last for about 3 hours.
Disprin could be your best friend to ease your pain. It made a world a difference for me =)
Note: Disprin does NOT relief emotional pain.
Here's me lookin nerdy in the uniform..eekksss! This is where im working part time. Jane and Leon are the owners and have now become my friends =) On the day Alv came, they took us for a chinese dinner...really sweet of them.
Two weeks ago was the best time i had since i arrived in Adelaide =D Thanks Alv for coming to visit
me. I really enjoyed the time spent with u. We did not do much sightseeing in the outskirts but lotsa tastetasting
around Adelaide. food food foood!
The Penne Avocado pasta looks gross as its Greeeen but I tell u it was so yummy! We went to Glenelg to walk along the coastline and had dinner at Hogs breath- famous for their steaks.
We managed to catch ‘ Varekai’ -Cirque De Soleil which was suppose to end the day before Alvin arrived. I guess because of the public demand they extended their stay here =D Its that good! Cirque De Soleil (French for "Circus of the Sun") is a Canadian circus which tours around the world. It is different from traditional circuses because Cirque does not have animals in their shows. Its a fusion of drama, acrobatics, gymnastics, dance, mime and music. Each show has a unique theme and story line starring world class acrobats, gymnast dressed in colourful costumes, accompanied by a live band playing.
Varekai is the gypsy word for 'wherever', and tells a tale of a young man (Icarus) who falls from the sky and parachutes into the shadows of a magical forest at the summit of a volcano. The forest is filled with fantastic creatures, surreal environments and bizarre events. This young man sets off on an extraordinary adventure.
Shows by Cirque De Soleil is a must watch for everyone. Even more so for those who enjoy the theatres. If cirque De Soleil comes to your town, don miss it! For more information on the various shows, visit http://www.cirquedusoleil.com
After the show my housemates brought us for authentic Vietnamese Beef Noodles at Kangs.
FOOD MARATHON
Mexican dinner at 'Montezuma's' followed by supper at the 'Elephant walk' both along Melbourne Street.
Salmon pizza, Seafood pasta with Rose' sauce..yummm and some cake i cant remember the name..all at 'Scoozi'.
We had more food than this for the whole week...one i regret not taking is at an award winning 'vietnamese restaurant 'Apparently people from other states come all the way to eat there. Well, if any of you do come to Adelaide...i'll take you there.
A 1000 apologies for my late reply in the last post. Thanks for the comments and encouragements n the demand for an update ..ahhaha ..here u go Galvin! It has only been 2 weeks plus since i stayed in my new place but it feels like Ive been here for ages =D My housemates are great and we constantly have guest for meals and to stay over. Lately, I've been tryin to make it a habit to run on the tread mill everyday but i only did it once n never again. hehe...
My room is too spacious...in other words lack of furnishing. Guess i will just live with it for now. I was very tempted to get a sofa bed which i could relax and chill out on. Unnecessary but it would be nice to have one. It will make my room cosy.
Thats Babi the chiwawa. He's the STAR of the house as he captures the attention of every visitor. As adorable and friendly he might seem, I warn you to never make him upset otherwise you will find shit in front of your room or pee on your belongings at the end of the day. Thats the vengeance of Babi. Once i played with Babi and he suddenly merajuk n walked away. Guess wat? At night, Alv picked up a rubbery 'rock' at the door! Babi's dried up shit! And in another incident, Alv accidentally touched a sensitive area on his neck which made him squeal n went to hide. Low and behold, i found my house slipper wet with babi's pee! Wrong shoe la babi! Why didnt he pee on Alvin's shoe but on my slipper?!
Wah quite long didnt blog. There are 2 possibilities. Its either my life here is boring or I'm too busy.Fortunately, its because im too 'busy' otherwise ill be rotting away. I went for a church camp/conference in Tanunda, Barossa valley Quite near where my interview was.Tanunda's town was only one street of shops less than 1km. And guess what i found while checkin out the shops?! A golliwog...ehhehe .they are so ugly and i wonder who would buy them. Reminds me of one of my fav childhood story books about Amelia Jane...keke

Remember I said i should have shut my big mouth about tellin the lady Im looking for a full time lab job? well she called me a few days after I finish my never ending report asking me whether i was still interested to work while waiting for a full time job. amazing huh?! its strange how i didnt get a single job when i was doing my report but its only AFTER i got the call n who would thought she still wanted to take me knowing tat i might leave anytime. God is good.
And the other news is im moving to a new placee!
